Paris, 1870. For years the Paris Opera Populaire had been haunted by the mysterious Phantom of the Opera. Determined to see his protegée and love, Christine Daaé, becoming lead soprano, he takes greater and deadlier steps to reach that achievement. The trap begins to close around him as his rival in love, Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny, is equally as determined to stop him and win Christine. After the performance of the Phantom's opera, Don Juan Triumphant, he kidnaps Christine and destroys the opera house. Raoul also follows and is captured. The Phantom demands Christine makes a choice, marry him and he will spare Raoul's life, refuse and Raoul dies.
Then she kisses him. Breaking his heart, he realizes he must let them go. In his rage and grief he smashes the full length mirrors in his lair, and exits to hide from the rest of his pursuers by stepping through the last one...
...where he found himself stepping into an abandoned theatre in the heart of New York City in 2005...his story continues...
This is a creative writing journal. I will probably be mixing from the novel and from the (2004) movie, depending on which fit him more appropriately. Erik's background, however, is taken from the novel (i.e. his travels to Persia, etc.) rather than the movie. The confrontation between Erik, Christine, and Raoul will be taken from the movie. I will not be using much, if anything, from Susan Kay's novel, "Phantom" (although I may borrow her name for the Daroga). This is mostly because I haven't read it yet, but I also consider it published fanfiction and not official canon. So where I do fill in the gaps in Erik's life left by Leroux and ALW, that I freely admit is my own creation.
The Phantom of the Opera is a creation of Gaston Leroux and also belongs to Andrew Lloyd Webber. I'm writing him just for pleasure and not for profit.

This journal is currently Friends Only. If you wish to be friended, please leave a comment by clicking on the above banner (made by Mayhem).
Many thanks to Mayhem for the background!
